Description: This angler fish mermaid is inspired by the idea of embracing one’s own femininity and all that that encompasses. Within one’s own prowess (bravery, or attributable skills) one can be many things. One can be dangerous, alluring, swift, independent, beautiful, more than their physical appearance, sexy, etc.

One of my favorite angler fish facts is that the way they reproduce is a male angler fish will latch onto the female’s body, and the male’s body will eventually fuse into the female’s body leaving only his gonads for her to use for herself. It’s a strange and inspiring process to a woman having to constantly push out against the structure of a patriarchal system. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk. ;)
